Zoogeographic element. Euro-Caucasian (boreo-montane).

Distribution. Boreo-montane species with fragmented range. Known from Spain, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Caucasus.

Distribution in Romania. Epigeal records. Geoagiu (FR68), Sibiu (KL77), Fägäraş (LL47) (all: Kuthy 1896), Braşov (LL85) (Petri 1912; as Catops tristis var. ventricosus Weise ) ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ).
