Lectotype (first step, designated by Berg & DeWolf 1975; second step, designated here):— GUYANA. Demerara, s.d., Parker s.n. (lectotype: K000442936 !; isolectotype: K000442937 !).

Nomenclatural notes:— In the protologue is not stated the name of the herbarium where the type of Urostigma erythrostictum was deposited. Berg & DeWolf (1975) are the first to propose the material preserved at K as a lectotype (Art. 7.11). However, there are two duplicates in this herbarium ( K000442936 and K000442937 ) without a label indicating that one is part of the other, therefore they are duplicates and it will be necessary to choose the final lectotype (Art. 8.3). Here we chose the specimen with the barcode K000442936 as the lectotype because it contains stem, stipule, leaves, and syconia with ostiole preserved .

Taxonomical note:— Ficus erythrosticta is synonymized by Berg & Villavicencio (2004), Berg (2007) and Ibarra- Manríquez et al. (2012) as F. pertusa .
