Remarks. Manota mazumbaiensis was described from Usambara Mountains, Tanzania on the basis of several males and two females and has not reported since. Our specimens are similar to Søli’s (1993) description except for the three megasetae at the dorsal mesial margin of the gonocoxa, which are slightly longer and more slender. There is some variation in our material ( Figs 28 View FIGURE 28 B, C and D, E). We have not been able to identify the female.

Manota mazumbaiensis belongs to a group of species which have sternite 9 laterally fused with the gonocoxa, have a large hypoproct, have a megasetae-bearing lobe at the dorsal mesial margin of the gonocoxa and lack flattened leaf- or scale-like megasetae posteriorly at the dorsal mesial margin of the gonocoxa. It differs from all by having only one megaseta on the plate-like lobe at the dorsal mesial margin of the gonocoxa. There are two other megasetae next to each other, more posteriorly placed on the dorsal mesial margin itself, which do not arise from the mentioned lobe and which are characteristic for M. mazumbaiensis .
