Promalactis ellipsoidea Wang, Du & Li , sp. nov.

( Figs 5 View FIGURES 1–8 , 39 View FIGURES 35–40 )

Type material: Holotype ♂, BRUNEI, Rampayoh R. (north) (4°22'N, 114°27'E), lowland for[est], 122 m, 1−3.iii.1982, BM 1982−156, leg. G. S. Robinson, genitalia slide No. BMNH-33536 ( BMNH). GoogleMaps

Description. Imago ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–8 ) with wingspan 9.0 mm. Head with vertex shining white, frons brown, occiput dark ochreous brown. Labial palpus with basal and second segments dark ochreous yellow on inner surface, ochreous brown on outer surface; third segment black, slightly longer than second. Antenna with scape white; flagellum white on dorsal surface, dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula dark ochreous brown. Forewing ochreous brown except black at apex; markings white edged with black scales; costal margin with an oval spot at basal 3/4, extending to near lower angle of cell; dorsal margin with a broad streak from basal 1/4 to base of fold, with an oval spot beyond 2/3, straightly extending to above lower margin of cell; cilia ochreous yellow, mixed with dark-brown scales along termen basally, dark gray along distal part of costal and dorsal margins. Hindwing and cilia gray. Foreleg black, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; midleg yellow on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface; hindleg yellow on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 35–40 ). Uncus sclerotized, heavily sclerotized marginally, nearly inverted triangular, very narrow at base, widened to straight apex; apex with two elongate, heavily sclerotized, racket-shaped lateral processes, which are narrowed in basal half, ovally broadened in distal half. Gnathos membranous, hill-like; lateral arms sclerotized, band shaped. Tegumen branched from posterior 1/2, obliquely truncate anteriorly. Valva sclerotized, nearly quadrangular; costa concave at middle, with a curved band arising from near base extending to base of valva at middle, which is broad in basal 2/5, very narrow in distal 3/5; with a sclerotized, irregular fold below distal half of costa, serrate ventrally, with a tuft of hairs apically; apex slightly concave at middle, with an upward-directed, short dorsal spine, rounded ventrally. Sacculus broad and rounded basally, narrow medially, distal 2/5 enlarged, free, elliptic, with strong, short spines ventrally and apically, slightly exceeding end of the valva. Saccus about 1/3 length of valva, broad at base, narrowed to rounded apex. Juxta a quadrangular plate, weakly sclerotized, with an elongate saccate handle at base, obliquely truncate at apex, reaching posterior 2/5 of tegumen. Aedeagus curved, about 1.3 x length of valva, basal half narrow, distal half slightly broader, with dense spinules dorso-medially, heavily sclerotized ventro-distally; cornutus absent.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to P. balikpapana Lvovsky, 2000 . It can be separated by the quadrangular valva with an irregular fold below distal half of the costa, the sacculus with distal 2/5 elliptic and the saccus about 1/3 length of the valva in the male genitalia. In P. balikpapana , the triangular valva has no fold below distal half of the costa, the distal half of the sacculus is trapeziform and the saccus is very short in the male genitalia.

Distribution. Brunei (Rampayoh).

Etymology. This specific name is derived from the Latin ellipsoideus (= elliptic), referring to distal 2/5 of the sacculus being elliptic in the male genitalia.
