Type host. Pimelodus clarias maculatus (Lacépède) (Pisces: Pimelodidae ).

Site of infection. Stomach.

Type locality. Argentina, Buenos Aires Province, Ensenada, Arroyo Miguelin.

Holotype: MLP 741/1. Paratypes: MLP 741/2.

Remark. Thometrema rioplatense was synonymised with T. overstreeti ( Brooks, Mayes & Thorson, 1979) by Kohn et al. (1990).
