Drosophila (Hirtodrosophila) denticeps Okada & Sasakawa, 1956: 26 View in CoL .

Drosophila (Lordiphosa) denticeps: Okada, 1990: 154 View in CoL .

Lordiphosa denticeps: Zhang, 1993: 144 View in CoL .

Diagnosis. Male foreleg with ca. 4, 3–4, and 2 transverse sex-combs on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tarsomeres, respectively; each transverse row consisting of 2–4 brown, thick teeth ( Fig. 3A,B View FIGURE 3 ). Cercus ventrally roundly truncated, with a fringe of 7–8 spines ( Fig. 3C,F View FIGURE 3 ). Paramere apically bifurcated; bifurcation small, sometimes with minute serration between bifurcation ( Fig. 3L View FIGURE 3 ).

Supplementary and revised description (♂). Head (Pls 1A, 3–5A, 7A): Frontal vitta brown, anteriorly somewhat paler. Fronto-orbital plate brown, darker than frontal vitta. Ocellar triangle brown. Face, facial carina, and gena yellowish brown. Occiput dark brown, dorsally yellowish brown. Postgena dark brown, laterally yellowish brown. Antennal pedicel yellowish brown; 1 st flagellomere pale grayish yellow; arista with 5 dorsal and 1 ventral branches and small terminal bifurcation. Palpus yellowish brown. Supracervical setulae 11¯14 per side; postocular setae 15–16 per side. Clypeus yellowish brown, dorsally grayish. Cibarium with ca. 21 medial and ca. 14 posterior sensilla per side. Prementum with 4–5 (1 proximal, 1–2 lateral, and 2 distal) pairs of setae.

Thorax (Pl. 1A) yellowish brown to brown. Mesonotum medially with 1 brown, longitudinal, caudally broadened stripe which anteriorly indistinct. Scutellum brown. Acrostichal setulae in 6 regular rows. Mid katepisternal seta indistinguishable from those below it.

Legs (Pl. 1A, Fig. 3A,B View FIGURE 3 ): Fore- and midleg 1 st tarsomeres nearly as long as total length of 4 succeeding tarsomeres.

Abdomen (Pl. 1A): Tergites grayish brown, glossy, caudally with dark grayish brown, narrow, marginal bands.

Male terminalia ( Fig. 3C–L View FIGURE 3 ): Epandrium yellowish brown, pubescent except for anterior subdorsal to ventral margin, with ca. 22 long setae per side; ventral lobe elongated, apically rounded. Cercus yellowish brown, with ca. 23 long setae. Surstylus with a row of ca. 12 prensisetae on caudodorsal margin and ca. 31 recurved setae on ventral portion of inner surface. Hypandrial caudolateral plates pubescent. Parameres curved ventrad, proximally U-shaped in lateral view, distally slightly divergent from each other. Gonopods dorsoproximally concaved in lateral view. Aedeagus nearly entirely membranous, largely sheathed with gonopods; apodeme apically broadened in lateral view, slightly shorter than aedeagus.

Measurements (in mm): BL (straight distance from anterior edge of pedicel to tip of abdomen) = 2.23 (1♂), ThL (distance from anterior notal margin to apex of scutellum) = 1.26, WL (distance from humeral cross vein to wing apex) = 3.17, WW (maximum wing width) = 1.30.
