Oncopsis (Oncopsis) taibaiensis View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 E–I, 3)

Description. Length. ♂, 5.0 mm; ♀, 4.3–4.5 mm.

Male. Coloration. Body light brown to brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E). Face brown, wide black transverse band with lower margin concave between eyes, clypellus black. Ocelli and eyes red brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 H). Pronotum decorated with fuscous lines and dots, 1 red brown elliptical speckle and 4 black dots on anterior margin. Scutellum red brown, bearing prominent black lateral angles and median longitudinal black band with 2 small discal black spots near transverse depression ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 G). Forewing brown, veins narrowly fuscous ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 F).

Morphology. Head including eyes almost equal to pronotum. Pronotum with roundly produced anterior margin and concave posterior margin. Scutellum longer than pronotum, with curved transverse suture. Face slightly longer than wide, densely decorated with shallow notches. Ocelli situated 5 times closer to adjacent eyes than to each other. Lower part of frontoclypeus expanded. Forewing with three anteapical cells.

FIGURE 3. Oncopsis taibaiensis sp. nov. A, Pygofer side and subgenital plate, lateral view; B, Aedeagus, caudal view; C, Aedeagus, lateral view; D, Connective, ventral view; E, Connective, lateral view; F, Style, lateral view; G, Dorsal connective, lateral view; H, 2nd valvulae of ovipositor.

Genitalia. Pygofer broad, obliquely truncate apically. Subgenital plate long, lateral margin slightly incurved at mid-length, with several macrosetae posteriorly (Fig. 3A). Connective slender, with fingerlike protrusion in middle, both lateral arms twisted dorsad (Figs. 3D, E). Aedeagus laterally compressed, in lateral aspect strongly tapered from wide base to narrow apex, gonopore apical (Figs. 3B, C). Style parallel-margined, slightly widened apically, with tapered end (Fig. 3F). Dorsal connective S-shaped, lower part shorter than upper, bearing caudal forked process with branches of fork of similar length and curvature (Fig. 3G).

Female. Body coloration and appearance similar to male, but having different face, clypellus and lateral sides of face black ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 I). Midline length of 7th sternite about 1.2 times as long as 6th one, sinuated on caudal margin, concave on mid-posterior region, and 2nd valvulae with 3–4 strong additional teeth (Fig. 3H).

Material examined. Holotype: ♂, China: Shaanxi Province, Taibai Mountain, Doumugong, 2800m, 9 August 1983, coll. Shaanxi Taibai Mountain Insect Expedition; Paratypes: 1♂, 2♀, 7 August 1983, same data as holotype. Diagnosis. This new species resembles Oncopsis kangdingensis and Oncopsis nepalensis externally, but can be distinguished by the shape of the dorsal connective hook.

Etymology. This new species epithet refers to the type locality, Taibaishan Mountain in Shaanxi Province, China.
