Alestes liebrechtsii Boulenger, 1898b:29 , Pl. 15. Type locality: Haut-Congo : Upoto, Umangi. [Democratic Republic of the Congo]. Syntypes: BMNH 1898.11 .17.22 (1); RMCA 140 View Materials (1); RMCA 168 View Materials (1) . [RMCA 122 is sometimes indicated as type, but this seems uncertain because the locality (= Leopoldville) and number of specimens do not correspond with the data in the original description].
