TYPE LOCALITY: Ecuador, Andes .

DISTRIBUTION: Mountains of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and NW Venezuela.

STATUS: Unknown.

SYNONYMS: andina, sierrae.

COMMENTS: Cabrera (1961:595) placed this species in Stictomys , but Handley (1976:55) and Gardner (1971:1088) included it in Agouti .
