TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Campos E of Mondo Novo .

DISTRIBUTION: Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso (SW Brazil), Uruguay, NW Argentina.

SYNONYMS: bicolor , rionegrensis.

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Langguth and Abella (1970). Altuna and Lessa (1985) regarded rionegrensis as a full species. The chromosome no. is 2n=46-55.
