TYPE LOCALITY: Haiti, Dept, de l'Artibonite, Cave NE of Saint Michel de l'Atalaye .

DISTRIBUTION: Hispaniola and La Gonave Island.

STATUS: Extinct.

COMMENTS: Originally described in a separate genus from I. portoricensis because the enamel folds of the cheekteeth connect to form separate laminar plates, but a large series of each species indicates that this character is clinal, and that the two forms are very closely related.
