DISTRIBUTION: Andes of Colombia and Ecuador; perhaps W Venezuela and N Peru.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered; IUCN - Vulnerable.

SYNONYMS: andicola, leucogenys, roulinii, villosus.

COMMENTS: Revised by Hershkovitz (1954).
