Material examined (N=423). 2f, 19/IX/2000, 13°52’99”S / 38°59’59”W ( MZUESC #61).

Distribution. Western Atlantic – Bermuda, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (from Pará to Rio Grande do Sul) ( Melo 1996; Barros et al. 1997a).

Ecological notes. Occurs in brackish to high-salinity waters, in mangroves, and muddy estuaries. Also in sandy beaches and the open sea. Intertidal to 75 m ( Melo 1996).
