= Onthophagus sapphyrinus Péringuey, 1901 (type locality: “Southern Rhodesia ( Salisbury , Victoria Falls , Limpopo River ), Ovampoland , ( Okovango River , Humbe Omrramba ), Transvaal (Rustenburg), Mozambique (Rikatla)” [ Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique]).

Type locality: “ Mozambique: Delagoa-Bay” [Maputo Bay , Mozambique] .

Distribution: Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa ( d’Orbigny 1902, 1913; Palestrini 1992; Davis et al. 2020).
