(8) A. flavipes leucogaster View in CoL versus A. minimus
Pelage: A. flavipes leucogaster has finer (less coarse) fur than A. minimus .
External measurements: A. f. leucogaster is smaller than A. minimus in absolute measurement (i.e., with no overlap in ranges) for no external measurements as far as we know. A. f. leucogaster is significantly smaller in head-body length and larger in ear length than A. minimus for females (Table 4).
Skull: A. f. leucogaster differs from A. minimus in absolute measurement (i.e., with no overlap in ranges) for the following skull/dentary characters in males: smaller APV and IOW, and in females: smaller APV, IOW and HT- B. A. f. leucogaster has numerous other dentary features that significantly (p<0.01) differ from A. minimus —6 variables for males and 10 for females, as shown in Table 4.
Other Comments: A. f. leucogaster females have 8–10 pouch nipples, whereas A. minimus females have 6–8 pouch nipples. A. f. leucogaster is found only in south-western Western Australia, whereas A. minimus is known from coastal Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. Genetics: uncorrected pairwise difference at the mitochondrial gene Cytochrome B (CytB) between A. f. leucogaster and A. minimus is 12.9%.
