4. Phelipanche bungeana (Beck) Soják (1972: 129) View in CoL . Type:— IRAN (lectotype designated by Piwowarczyk et al. 2017d): Iran. Siaret [Ziarat, Golestan Province], 1859, Bunge [Herbarium Bungeanum. Iter persicum] (LE s.n.!). Basionym:— Orobanche bungeana Beck (1890: 119) . Misapplied names:— Orobanche caucasica auct., non O. caucasica Beck (1922: 34) . Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 .

Distribution: —Mainly in the southeastern part (Syunik province), and rarely in the northwestern part of the Shirak province ( Fig. 17).

General distribution: —Caucasus and surrounding areas ( Iran).

Habitat: —Rocky and loamy slopes, edges of forests, slopes on roadsides, (1000)1400‒1800(2000) m.

Hosts: —Apparently only parasitic on Lamiaceae sp., such as Teucrium sp. , rarely Scutellaria sp. ; T. chamaedrys L. subsp. chamaedrys , occasionally T. polium L., S. orientalis L. Mentioned on different hosts: T. chamaedrys ( Beck 1930) , Gundelia tournefortii L. ( Novopokrovskij & Tzvelev 1958, they probably mistook the host), Alyssum sp. ( Gilli 1982, probably in error for Phelipanche nowackiana (Markgr.) Soják (1972: 130)) .

Phenology: —Flowering June to July, fruiting July to August.

Conservation status: —Endangered (EN) – B 2ab(iii) AOO is less than 5000 km 2, severely fragmented, existing at no more than 5 locations (5 locations in 2 floristic regions). Populations consist usually of more than 10 shoots and up to 50. All subpopulations are outside Specially Protected Nature Areas of Armenia. Limiting factors are restricted EOO and AOO, loss/degradation of habitats caused by the expansion of arable land and overgrazing.

Notes: — Novopokrovskij and Tzvelev (1958) confused Orobanche bungeana and O. caucasica Beck (1922: 34) , which are different species according to the type (LE s.n.!), and Gilli (1982) also confused yellow forms of O. bungeana and O. rechingeri Gilli (1966: 214) .
