Coccobius furviflagellatus Huang, 1994: 146 View in CoL .

Material examined. Holotype female, China: Fujian, Fuzhou, Jinshan, October 1988 (coll. Xiao-Lin Lin), by yellow pan trap, ( FAFU). Additional specimens, 5 ♀, 1 ♂, China: Fujian, Changle, 17 August 2013 (coll. Zhu- Hong Wang), ex. a diaspidid scale on bamboo; 3 ♀, 2 ♂, China: Fujian, Fuzhou, Jinshan, 30 September 2013 (coll. Zhu-Hong Wang), ex. a diaspidid scale on bamboo.

Female. Body length: 1.05 (1.11) mm.

Colour. Body yellow; mesopleuron yellow to brown; mandible dark brown. Antenna with radicle and scape pale yellow, pedicel dark brown basally and pale brown apically, flagellum blackish brown. Wings hyaline. Legs white to pale yellow. Third valvula pale yellow.

Head. Vertex with reticulate sculpture; eyes finely setose. Antennal scape about 3.1× (3.00×) as long as wide; pedicel 1.75× (1.50×) as long as wide, subequal in length to (0.92× as long as) F1; F1 1.87× (1.69×) as long as wide, 1.16–1.12× (1.16×) as long as F2 and F3 respectively, F2 subequal in length to F3, each funicular segment with 1 or 2 longitudinal sensilla; clava subequal in length to funicle, C1 1.17× (1.22×) as long as wide, C2 2.30× (2.50×) as long as wide, 1.89× (1.82×) as long as C1, each with 4–6 longitudinal sensilla.

Mesosoma. Pronotum with reticulate sculpture; mid-lobe of mesoscutum with irregular hexagonal cells or reticulation, with 38 (42) setae; distance between axillae about 3.43× (3.13×) the length of an axilla; mesoscutellum 0.89× (0.87×) as long as mid-lobe of mesoscutum, with longitudinal reticulation medially and irregular hexagonal cells or reticulation laterally, with 3 pairs of setae, and with placoid sensilla between mid and hind pairs of setae, but closer to mid pair; metanotum and propodeum partly with faint reticulation; mesopostphragma, measured from apex of mesoscutellum, 1.28× (1.35×) as long as mesoscutellum. Fore wing 2.68× (2.71×) as long as maximum width of wing disc; marginal fringe 0.16× (0.09×) as long as maximum width of disc; submarginal vein shorter than marginal vein, with 8 (8 or 9) setae; marginal vein with 13 (14) setae along anterior margin; postmarginal vein absent; wing disc densely setose with relatively broad asetose area posterobasally.

Metasoma. Metasoma about 1.68× as long as mesosoma; tergites 1–7 with setae as follows: T1, 1+1; T2–T4, 5+5 each; T5, 6+6; T6, 4 between cercal plates; T7, 20 in 3 or 4 rows; ovipositor long, basally located at T2 or near to base of metasoma, distinctly projecting beyond apex of metasoma, 2.84× (2.89×) as long as mid tibia, third valvula 3.00× (2.90×) as long as mid basitarsus.

Male. Body length: 0.60 mm.

Colour. Head yellowish brown to brown, area above scrobe, frontovertex and occipital region dark brown; mandible dark brown. Mesosoma mostly dark brown, pronotum, axilla, sides of metanotum and propodeum dark brown, mesoscutellum with a longitudinal brownish yellow stripe in middle; mesopleuron and metasoma blackish brown. Antenna with radicle and scape pale yellow, pedicel and flagellum dark brown. Wings hyaline. Legs white, fore and mid coxae slightly darkened basally, hind coxae dark brown, hind femora mostly dark brown.

Head. Vertex with reticulate sculpture. Antennal funicle not differentiated from clava; pedicel shortest of flagellar segments; F1 long, about 2.72× as long as pedicel and 0.85× as long as scape; F1–F 6 in length as 40: 28: 29: 50: 57: 63, each with 2–4 longitudinal sensilla.

Mesosoma. Pronotum with irregular reticulation; mid-lobe of mesoscutum with irregular hexagonal cells or reticulation, with 48 setae; mesoscutellum about 0.80× as long as mid-lobe of mesoscutum, with longitudinal reticulation medially and irregular hexagonal cells or reticulation laterally, with 3 pairs of setae, placoid sensilla on mesoscutellum between fore and mid pairs of setae but closer to mid pair. Fore wing relatively broad, 2.07× as long as maximum width of wing disc; marginal fringe 0.16× as long as maximum width of wing disc; submarginal vein with 8 setae; marginal vein with 10 setae along anterior margin; postmarginal vein absent; wing disc densely setose with narrow asetose area posterobasally.

Metasoma. Metasoma 0.80× as long as mesosoma. Male genitalia with phallobase about 4.5× as long as wide, not markedly bifid as in other species; aedeagus deeply incised.

Host. An unidentified Diaspididae (Hemiptera) scale on bamboo. Males are hyperparasites in the pupae of females of its own species ( Figs 36–37 View FIGURES 36 – 37 ).

Distribution. China (Fujian).

Diagnosis. Coccobius furviflagellatus is similar to C. ephedraspidis (Yasnosh 1968) because both have the flagellum dark brown to black, but C. ephedraspidis is distinguished from C. furviflagellatus by having all the antennomeres brown, and also the head and mesosoma dark brown.
