Chrysolina hongyuanensis Daccordi et Ge , sp. nov.

( Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 A–F)

Diagnosis. Metallic bronze; hind wing absent; pronotum without callus; elytron with punctures forming irregular single striae; inner edge of epipleura with 1/3 length bristles; pygidium without longitudinal depression medially.

Description (based on holotype): Colour: Metallic bronze; antennae and onychium chestnut, compound eyes dark.

Body length: 5.80 mm; body width: 2.96 mm.

Body elongate-ovoid ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A), moderate large, convex in lateral view; hind wing absent.

Head: Clypeus with sparse pubescence, with small and sparse punctures; frons smooth, with dense and moderate punctures; coronal suture and frontal suture present; vertex with sparse and small punctures; compound eyes elliptic; dorso-ventral eye length: 0.16 mm; interocular distance: 0.96 mm; distance from antennal insertion to eye 0.13 mm; distance from antennal insertion to clypeus 0.06 mm; mandible with two denticles, outer surface with sparse pubescence, with small and sparse punctures; third segment of maxillary palpi shorter than fourth, apex of fourth segment truncate. Antennae with narrow segments basally, widening from segments 6 to 11; antennal segment 1–11 lengths in millimeter: 0.32: 0.16: 0.24: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.20: 0.36 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 B).

Pronotum: Length: 1.76 mm; width: 2.80 mm; lacking setigerous punctures on sides of anterior and posterior angles; central disc with moderate and dense punctures, similar to those of head; with lateral callus; punctures lateral to disc with moderate and dense punctures.

Scutellum : Sub-triangular, with sparse punctures.

Elytra: Suture length: 4.84 mm; width of elytra: 3.68 mm; elytron with punctures forming irregular single striae; sutural striae present, striae with punctures larger than those on side of pronotum; interspaces of elytra striae convex, with moderate and dense punctures, with horizontal wrinkles; inner edge of epipleura with 1/3 length bristles.

Legs: Femora and tibiae with sparse, moderate punctures, sparse pubescence; tarsomere 1 of male protarsus enlarged; hind tarsi entirely pubescent beneath, tarsomere 3 with shallow apical emargination, relative lengths of hind tarsomeres: 5>1> 3> 2, tarsomere 5 not ventrally toothed ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 F).

Venter: Hypomera without punctures, little shagreened; middle part of intercoxal prosternal process more than half width of apex; prosternum without punctures, truncate behind and not emarginate behind; mesoventrite shorter than prosternum between coxae; metaventrite as long as prosternum, without punctures; with sparse and moderate punctures, with sparse pubescence; mesepisternum, mesepimeron and metepisternum without punctures; abdomen with moderate, sparse punctures and sparse pubescence; pygidium with arcuate apex, without longitudinal depression medially.

Median lobe of aedeagus ( Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 D–E): Basal part slightly wider than apex, curved in lateral view, lateral side with a small tooth apically, flagellum invisible.

Variability. All males of the type series are very similar in size, shape and lustre, tarsomere 1 of protarsi enlarged in male; tarsomere 3 of hind tarsi of female pubescence beneath. In some specimens, vertex with much denser punctures; interspaces of elytral striae with much denser punctures; spermatheca absent. Measurements of the paratypes are as follows: body length: 5.70–6.10 mm; body width: 2.82–3.01 mm; length of pronotum: 1.74– 1.82 mm; width of pronotum: 2.78–2.84 mm; suture length: 4.80–4.89 mm; width of elytra: 3.68–3.74 mm; dorsoventral eye length: 0.16–0.20 mm; interocular distance: 0.96–1.08 mm; antennae segment (1–11) length (in millimeter): 0.32: 0.16: 0.24: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.16: 0.20: 0.36 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C).

Remarks. Members of this new species are similar to those of Chrysolina claripes Lopatin , but they can be distinguished by the colour on dorsum, punctures on lateral side of pronotum, and shape of median lobe.
