Nysson kazenasi Nemkov and Gayubo View in CoL , sp. nov. ( Figs. 15 View FIGURES 1 5 )

Etymology. The species is dedicated to the famous hymenopterist Prof. V. L. Kazenas, who collected the type series.

Type material: Holotype ,, TURKMENISTAN: Kara Kum desert near Repetek, 9.V 1990 (Kazenas) (Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia); paratypes, 2, 3, TURKMENISTAN: Kara Kum desert near Repetek, 6, 7, 9, 19.V 1990 (Kazenas).

Diagnosis. Nysson kazenasi is unique among Palaearctic Nysson in having the hypoepimeral area strongly swollen like a hollow, longitudinal conicalshaped structure. Other distinctive features are: clypeus with surface regularly convex; free margin of clypeal lobe straight or minimally concave; low occipital carina welldefined, not joining hypostomal carina; frons densely punctate, with subcontiguous punctures; collar with broadly rounded lateral sides; scutum with a welldefined longitudinal median sulcus; propodeal dorsum welldeveloped and with two clear marginal carinae; propodeal spines moderately developed; sternum II with a clear double punctuation.

Additional diagnostic features are, in males: last antennal joint simple (without ventral concavities), last tergum depressed and apically tridentate; in females: last sternum with a smooth median longitudinal carina and apically pointed.

Nysson kazenasi is a species morphologically similar to N. humilis Handlirsch an N. pusillus Beaumont in having fundamentally a similar occipital carina, appressed whitish setae concealing some parts of the body such as the mesopleuron, similar free margin of clypeus and last antennal joint simple in males.

Description. FEMALE. Body length 4.54.6 mm. Clypeus noticeably regularly convex; its anterior margin approximately trapeziform, with turned anterad narrow border ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 5 ). OAD:WAS:IAD =10:8:4Inner eye margins slightly emarginated above middle. IODa :IODo =1.5. Frons weakly convex, with slender median line in lower half. OOD:Od:POD =14:9:14. Low occipital carina welldefined, not joining hypostomal carina. Antenna rather short, somewhat clavate; A3L:W =1.4, A12L:W =1.0, A13L:W=1.4; last joint strait, rounded apically. Pronotal collar broadly rounded laterally, not angular. Scutum with a welldefined longitudinal median sulcus in the shape of a deep furrow which is gradually vanished posterad. Hypoepimeral area of mesopleuron strongly swollen like a hollow longitudinal conicalshaped structure ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 5 ). Propodeal dorsum welldeveloped, with two clear marginal carinae. Propodeal spines moderately developed. Gastral terga and sterna simple, not double edged. Sternum II gently rounded. Sternum VI with smooth obtuse median carina in posterior half and pointed apically. Pygidial plate almost flat, moderately wide, approximately triangular ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 5 ). Media of hindwing diverging after cua.

Body with characteristic whitish setae, appressed and concealing integument on upper two thirds of clypeus, lower half of frons, mesopleuron and posterolateral parts of dorsal propodeal surface.

Lower half of clypeus smooth and shining with several mediumsized points. Upper half of clypeus, frons, vertex and temples semidull, with very dense subcontiguous micropunctures. Pronotum, scutum, all gastral terga including pygidial plate and sterna IIIVI rather shiny, with uniform small dense punctures (space between each equal to or less than their diameter). Sternum II with a clear double punctation (micropunctures with regular distribution and 12 diameters apart; macropunctures with irregular distribution and 15 diameters apart). Mesopleuron smooth and shiny, with sparse mediumsized points. Metapleuron smooth and shiny, without punctures. Propodeum rather gently irregularly striatereticulate dorsally and posteriorly, nearly smooth and dull laterally.

Body black, gaster mainly brownishred. Antennae and legs red; most of scapus, pedicellus, interrupted in the middle stripe on pronotal collar, humeral angles, spot on mesopleural longitudinal conical shape structure, small spot on tegula, interrupted in the middle or unbroken bands on terga IV, large spots on apex of fore and midfemurs, exterior surface of all tibiae yellowishwhite. Wings hyaline. Veins and stigma darkbrown.

MALE. Body length 4.54.6 mm. As in female except: antenna rather clavate, not modified ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 5 ); A3L:W =1.3, A12L:W =0.9, A13L:W =1.3; gastral sterna without hairbrushes or fimbriae, last sternum not modified; last tergum depressed and apically tridentate, median tooth shorter and wider than lateral ones ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 5 ).

Distribution. Turkmenistan.

Natural History. According to the labels, the type specimens were collected in sand desert.
