Genus Koonwarraphis gen. nov.

Type species. Koonwarraphis rotundafrons sp. nov.; by present designation and monotypy.

Diagnosis. Frons enlarged and semicircular;?7 antennal segments; secondary rhinaria rounded; rostrum shorter than body length, extending to level of hind coxae; thorax length 0.5x abdomen; CuA1 and CuA2 bases separated but closely spaced, emerging from a distinct thickening or bulge on the main vein; CuA2 departs main vein ~75° acutely towards apical margin; Rs vein departs the pterostigma halfway along its posterior margin, not strongly curved; M vein departs the main vein halfway between CuA1 and base of pterostigma, primary M fork proximal of CuA2 intersection with wing apical margin;?cauda short, bilobed; no visible siphunculi.

Derivation of name. From the locality Koonwarra, and aphis, Latin for ‘aphid’. Gender feminine.
