Zonantes subfasciatus group

Werner (1990) arranged members of Zonantes into four species groups. Specimens in this group are collected together most often by beating in lowland forest. Numbers peaked during April, May, and August.

Zonantes pallidus Werner. This is the rarest member of the species group and it was collected from February to April and July to October. Compared to others it was more common at lights with several specimens taken during July, August, and September. One was collected by sifting litter during April.

Zonantes signatus (Haldeman) . This species was collected from April to November and was rarely taken at light.

Zonantes subfasciatus (LeConte) . This species was by far the most numerous during the survey. It was collected during all months apart from February. It was generally more restricted to lowland forests compared to Z. fasciatus . Teneral specimens collected during the summer indicate that the species may be bivoltine. It was rarely taken at light.
