Remarks. Germar (1823) described Lamia scrupulosa from Brazil and did not indicate the number of specimens. According to Tavakilian & Chevillotte (2023), there were four syntypes. We do not know if this information is formally published. Audinet-Serville (1835) described Dryoctenes caliginosus based on syntypes (number of specimens not mentioned) from Brazil. According to Tavakilian & Chevillotte (2023), there were two syntypes. Germar (1839) synonymized D. caliginousus with D. scrupulosus .
Currently, it is known from Costa Rica (Puntarenas), Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana, Ecuador, Brazil (Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Piauí, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul), Peru, Bolivia (Beni and Santa Cruz), Paraguay, and Argentina (Misiones, Salta, Tucumán) ( Monné 2024b). Zajciw (1966) recorded it from the Brazilian state of Ceará, which was omitted in Monné (2024b).
