Material examined.

Holotype, 1♀ (ANIC), the Philippines, Leyte, on Euphorbia hirta , 14.vi.1984, C.P. Reyes . Paratype, 1♀ (ANIC), with the same data as holotype .

Comments.

This is the third species of Gigantothrips recorded from the Philippines, and was taken on Euphorbia hirta . It has tergite IX setae S1-S3 a little shorter than the tube (Fig. 6 View Figures 1–6 ), which is unique in comparison with other Gigantothrips species that have these setae much shorter than their tubes.
