This species was identified from Bermuda by HDJ from specimens collected in 1998 (three locations, see proof note in Moore et al. 2001). Growing to at least 70 mm in length, it is now widespread across the islands and locally abundant. It feeds largely on small snails ( Gerlach 1998). It has a widespread distribution across the world through human agency ( Moore et al. 2001).
