Remarks. Miers (1885) originally used naresi as the epithet and later emended it to naresii (Miers 1886) . According to Article 33.4 ( ICZN 1999) naresii is an incorrect subsequent spelling, but as this later spelling has been consistently used since, it can be retained under the rule for prevailing usage (Article 33.3.1, ICZN 1999). Griffin & Tranter (1986: 49) examined the type of E. naresii and assigned it to Pleistacantha as has been suggested by Ihle & Ihle-Landenberg (1931: 162).

Valid as Pleistacantha naresii (Miers, 1885) .

Remarks. Miers (1885) used the name milne-edwardsi, but later emended it to milne-edwardsii (Miers 1886: 269). According to Article 33.4 ( ICZN 1999) it is an incorrect subsequent spelling, but as this later spelling has been consistently used since, it can be retained under the rule for prevailing usage (Article 33.3.1, ICZN 1999). Paracyclois milneedwardsii Miers, 1866 , was placed on the Official List of Specific Names (Direction 36) as: “ milneedwardsii , Paracyclois, Miers, 1886 , Rep. Voy. ‘Challenger’ (Zool.) 17 (No 2): 289 (specific name of type species of Paracyclois Miers, 1886 ) (Crustacea, Decapoda )”. This is incorrect because it should be cited as Paracyclois milneedwardsii Miers, 1885 . However, following Articles 79.4, 80.9 ( ICZN 1999) this incorrect date will stand until the Commission corrects it (Article 80.4).

Valid as Paracyclois milneedwardsii Miers, 1886 .
