Type material examined. 4 exx. Syntype ( NHM): card-mounted, “ Veronatus longipal- \ pis Ind. typ. D. S. \ Tairua Broun” [handwritten], “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.”. Syntype ( NHM): card-mounted, same label data as above. Syntype ( NHM): ventrally card-mounted, “ Veronatus longi- \ palpis Ind. typ. D. S. \ Tairua Broun” [handwritten], “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.” Syntype ( NHM): card-mounted, genitalia and abdomen mounted on a separate card, “ Veronatus longi- \ palpis Type D. S. \ Tairua Broun” [hand written], “ Type ” [round label with red border], “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.”, “ Veronatus \ tricostellus \ White \ ( Anobium \ comp with Type ” [handwritten].
Remarks. Veronatus longipalpis was described from specimens collected from Tairua and sent to Sharp and Wakefield by T. Broun (Sharp 1878). Some authors (Broun 1880, Pic 1914) suggested its possible synonymy with Veronatus tricostellum (White) . See remarks under V. tricostellum for more details.
