Broun number: 2021.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ scaber ” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Tairua” [in Broun’s hand], “2021.” [in Broun’s hand], “HOLOTYPE” [round label with red margin].

Remarks. A single specimen was found in Tairua in 1865 (Broun 1893).
