Type material. In a recent attempt to examine the type specimen of this species, we learned that the YPMAbout YPM does not have the types of Mica longithorax  (R. Pupedis, L. Munstermann, pers. comm.). Thus, this type is considered lost (article 75.3.4 of ICZN).

Although Petrunkevitch's (1925) description enables the identification of this species, its importance as the type species of a monotypic genus requires the designation of a neotype ( ICZN article 75.3.1): a female neotype from Starfish Beach, Isla Colón (09.40441°N, 82.32610°W), 0 m elev., Bocas del Toro , Panama, 26.IX.2008, J.X. Zhang & G.B. Edwards leg., deposited in the Spencer Entomological Collection, University of British Columbia, British Columbia, Canada (UBC-SEM), a recognized scientific institution that maintains a research collection with proper facilities for preserving name-bearing types ( ICZN article 75.3.7).GoogleMaps 

The neotype was chosen based on the proximity to the type locality and comparisons of this specimen with the original description (see Petrunkevitch 1925: fig. 155; compare with our Fig. 14DView FIGURE 14; ICZN articles 75.3.2 and 75.3.5).

Diagnosis. Females differ from all known species of this genus in having a reduced spination (v2 di) on leg I.

Description. Male. Unknown.

Female (neotype). Total length: 2.80. Carapace 1.23 long, 0.77 wide, 0.46 high. Ocular quadrangle 0.65 long. Anterior eye row 0.65 wide and posterior 0.69 wide. Chelicera paturon with one promarginal and one retromarginal tooth, the promarginal with three cusps, the middle one largest, and the retromarginal with one curved cusp. Length of femur: I 0.55, II 0.44, III 0.49, IV 0.70; patella + tibia: I 0.64, II 0.55, III 0.56, IV 0.83; metatarsus + tarsus: I 0.53, II 0.49, III 0.60, IV 0.73. Leg formula: 4132. Leg spination: femur I ‒IV 0; patella I ‒IV 0; tibia I ‒IV 0; metatarsus I v2 di; II ‒IV 0. Epigyne ( Figs 14D ‒14EView FIGURE 14): posterior edge bilobed, copulatory openings anteriorly placed. Color in alcohol: carapace brown with a tuft of white scales behind PLE, dark striation on the thoracic region and posterior borders with tufts of white scales, abdomen dorsum with three tufts of white scales anteriorly placed, middle of the abdomen with a pair of tufts of white scales on the sides, end of abdomen with a pair of tufts of white scales near to anal tubercle, venter of the abdomen brown, spinnerets brown.

Distribution. Only known from Panama.
