Type material. Holotype: JAPAN [OKINAWA] ♂, labelled “JPN/Ryukyu, Okinawa-jima, [Okinawa], Kunigami v., Yona. 26.7589 N / 128.2197 E. 9 V 2013, Rikio Matsumoto leg.”, OMNH TI-524 GoogleMaps . Description. Male (Fig. 3). Measurements (n = 3): Body length 21.2–23.1 mm. Length of wing 13.6–14.7 mm. Length of fore basitarsomere 1.2–1.3 mm. Length of hind femur 5.8–6.5 mm. Head (Figs 8–9). Black in ground color; antenna yellowish brown except style tinged pale blackish brown; ratios of antennal segments in length, scape (as 1):pedicel: postpedicel:style = 1:0.5–0.8:3.4–3.9:1.5–2.0; anterior margin of eye weakly concave (Fig. 9); mystax pale whitish yellow, with 16–18 setae (Fig. 8); proboscis brown to light brown. Thorax yellowish brown to brown in ground color; scutum with 3 indistinct blackish brown stripes (Fig. 10); scutellum with sparse black setae on disc and black setae on posterior margin; posterior edge of anepisternum, anterior half anepisternum, katepisternum, posterior half anepimeron and metanepisternum with blackish brown marking; edge of metathoracic spiracle blackish brown. Wing (Fig. 12). 3.6–4.1 times as long as wide; basal section of M 2 1.9–2.7 times as long as m -m. Legs: Fore coxa with sparse pale yellow setae on anterior surface and with small pale black marking laterally; mid coxa entire black; femura and tibiae covered with short black setae and reddish brown setae; mid femur with brown spot on ventral; fore tibiae with 6–7 reddish brown ventral setae; mid tibia brown to yellow in ground color and apical 1/3 mid tibia with 3 distinct reddish brown setae on ventral surface; hind tibia largely brown in ground color except ventral side yellow in ground color; hind femur 7.1–8.9 times as long as wide; hind tibia yellow to pale brown in ground color, with single row of 5–7 reddish brown dorsal setae; empodium black apically, basal portion brown. Abdomen black to brown in ground color; tergite I covered black tomentum; tergite I with sparse black setae and long reddish brown setae on posterodorsal margin; apical half of tergite II golden tomentose; tergites II to VII with black setae on lateral and dorsal surface and golden setae on latero-ventral portion. Genitalia (Figs 16–18, 21–22). Epandrium tapering toward apex (Figs 16–17); surstylus weakly tapered to apex (Fig. 18); basal half of dorsal aedeagal sheath curved (Fig. 22); lateral ejaculatory process abruptly tapering near apex (Fig. 21); ejaculatory apodeme with small triangular lobe on basal half (Fig. 22).

Female (Fig. 4). Similar to male except: Measurements (n = 2): Body length 23.8–23.9 mm. Length of wing 15.5–16.2 mm. Length of fore basitarsomere 1.3–1.4 mm. Length of hind femur 6.4–6.5 mm. Ratios of antennal segments in length, scape (as 1):pedicel:postpedicel:style = 1:0.6–0.8:3.3–3.6:1.6–1.9; hind femur 7.2–7.8 times as long as wide; Wing 3.9–4.0 times as long as wide; basal section of M 2 1.8–1.9 times as long as m-m. Legs: Mid femur with reddish brown spot ventrally; tibiae reddish brown to yellow in ground color. Spermatheca (Fig. 24). Lateral reservoir long, apex rounded.

Distribution. Okinawa Island, Okinawa pref., Japan.

Biology. Specimens were collected mainly by sweeping along trails in the forest; however one specimen from Mt. Nago-dake was collected at light.

Etymology. Named after the first name of Dr Rikio Matsumoto, the collector of holotype specimen.
