Acrostichum polypodioides Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 1068. 1753.

Lectotype (Verdcourt in Beentje, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Polypodiaceae :. 31. 2001): [icon] "Filix Polypodium dicta minima, Jamaicensis, foliis aversa parte, ferrugineo pulvere Asplenii ritu, circumquaque respersis" in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 289, f. 1. 1694; Almag. Bot.: 153. 1696. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 129: 29 ( BM-SL) .

Current name: Marginaria polypodioides (L.) Tidestr. var. polypodioides View in CoL ( Polypodiaceae ).

Note: Weather by (in Contr. Gray Herb. 124: 28. 1939), followed by later authors, treated material in Plukenet’s herbarium as the type but this was not seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name.
