Lectotype (Darbyshire in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 248. 2000): Herb. A. van Royen No. 913.62-78 ( L) .

Current name: Festuca gigantea (L.) Vill. View in CoL ( Poaceae ).

Note: Although Kerguélen (in Lejeunia, n.s., 75: 149. 1975) stated "Type: …LINN”, this is not accepted as a formal typification, for the reasons explained by Cafferty & al. (in Taxon 49: 240. 2000). Kerguélen & Plonka (in Bull. Soc. Bot. Centre-Ouest, n.s., num. spéc., 10: 173. 1989) wrongly indicated Herb. Linn. 93.27 ( LINN), not original material for the name, as type and Darbyshire therefore rejected their choice in favour of van Royen material.
