Lectotype (de Wit in Reinwardtia 3: 391. 1956): [icon] " Naga-valli vel Mandaru-valli " in Rheede, Hort. Malab. 8: 55, t. 29. 1688.

Current name: Bauhinia scandens L. View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Caesalpinioideae ).

Note: De Wit (in Reinwardtia 3: 391. 1956) indicated the cited Rheede plate as the sole basis for this name. Were this not to be accepted as a formal typification, Rudd (in Dassanayake & Fosberg, Revised Handb. Fl. Ceylon 7: 41. 1991) explicitly indicated the plate as the type.
