Pseudozumia gracilis van der Vecht, 1963 View in CoL

( Figs. 12–13 View FIGURES 12–13 )

Pseudozumia gracilis van der Vecht 1963: 44 View in CoL , ♀, ♂ —“ Philippine Islands: … Mindanao” (holotype female RMNH)

Calligaster zetteli Gusenleitner 2006: 1353 View in CoL , ♀ —“ Philippinen … Bais Forest, Negros-Oriental Province” (holotype female USC) syn. nov.

Material examined. BOHOL: Bilar, Man Made Forest , 29.XI.2005, leg. C. Pangantihon, 1♀ ( HZVA, paratype of Calligaster zetteli ) .

Distribution. Philippines: Bohol, Leyte, Luzon, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros, Palawan, Samar ( Gusenleitner 2006; Selis 2018; van der Vecht 1963).

Remarks. Examination of a paratype of Calligaster zetteli showed us that this species does not belong to Calligaster de Saussure but to Pseudozumia de Saussure and it is a junior synonym of Pseudozumia gracilis van der Vecht. The paratype is shown in Figs. 12–13 View FIGURES 12–13 .

The attribution to Pseudozumia and not to Calligaster was justified by the following characters [characters of Calligaster in brackets]: mandibles elongate [mandibles short], cephalic foveae present [cephalic foveae absent], mid tibia with one spur [mid tibia with two spurs], propodeum with pointed lobes near propodeal valvula [propodeum without pointed lobes], T1 subtriangular with striate elliptical area in the middle [T1 petiolate and parallel sided, striate but without a sharply delimited elliptical area].

The synonymy with P. gracilis , the only Pseudozumia recorded from Philippine Islands, and not to other species of the genus, is justified by the shallow depression on the vertex, the acute apical lobes of the propodeum, the shiny mesoscutum with sparse and shallow macropunctures, the scutellum with very sparse fine punctures only, and the absence of metallic iridescence on the head and mesosoma.
