Material examined. Lectotype (here designated, Fig. 14 ) in MNHN: Paris; ex collection J. Thomson, now in coll.R. Oberthür. The lectotype is a female which bears the labels: “ Type ” / “Ƥ” / “Museum Paris Coll. J. Thomson 1952” / “ Thomsonii Type Buqt. Bras.” (typical label with blue border of Thomson’s collection) and the red label: “ Hemicladus thomsonii Buquet, 1857 Lectotype Tavakilian, Dalens & Touroult det. 2009”. Type locality: BRAZIL. Distribution: Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay. There is no confirmed record of this species in French Guiana. Citations from French Guiana are due to misidentifications of H. dejeanii and H. buqueti sp. nov.
