status

Uvarus rivulorum ( Regimbart, 1895)

Uvarus cilunculus = U. cilunculus Guignot, 1950.

Type locality.

Madagascar, Antsiranana.

Material examined.

1 ♀: MAK-1A; 2 ♀♀: MAK-2; 1 ♀: MAK-18; 4 ♂♂, 2 ♀♀: MAK-19; 4 exs.: MAK-60.

Distribution.

Madagascar, widespread in lowlands ( Guignot 1959-1961; Rocchi 1991; Biström 1988c).

Habitat in study area

(Fig. 2B, C View Figure 2 ). This species was collected mainly at peripheral sites, in shallow lentic or slowly flowing lotic habitats, with or without marginal vegetation. The environment was open (non-forested), at some sites partly sheltered by sparse trees, and at most sites impacted by anthropogenic pressures (notably cattle trampling). The bottom varied from clay to sand and more or less abundant plant debris; the water was clear to turbid.
