Diagnosis. This new species is tentatively placed in the O. (D.) pallida Group of Dampfitrichia subgenus of Kelley (1984) due to segment VII being without a ventral apicomesal process; segment VIII venter being shallowly excised apically and without dorsolateral processes; segment IX having its venter pointed anteriorly and protruding to the anterior end of segment VII; the inferior appendages distinct, short; and the aedeagus lacking a titillator and having a distal process. The male of Oxyethira jiquitaia sp. nov. is similar to that of O. longissima Flint 1974 in the general shape of the inferior appendages, and O. macrosterna Flint 1974 in the general shape of the subgenital process. However, in the new species, segment IX in lateral view extends a bit further than the anterior margin of segment VII, but in O. longissima and O. macrosterna , segment IX is much more prolonged.

Description. Male. Length of each forewing 1.55 mm (n = 6). Head unmodified, with 3 ocelli; antennae broken and lost. Tibial spurs 1,3,4. Dorsum of head dark brown with pale yellow setae; thorax dark brown dorsally, light brown ventrally, with pale yellow setae dorsally; leg segments with light brown setae. Forewing venation typical of the genus, covered with fine yellow setae and small scattered patches of dark brown setae.

Male Genitalia. Abdominal segment VII annular, without apicomesal ventral process ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Segment VIII with posteroventral margins sinuous in lateral view ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ); in dorsal view anterior margin slightly concave, posterior margin difficult to define ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ); in ventral view anterior margin sinuous, posterior margin shallowly excised mesally, produced into two truncate lateral lobes ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ). Segment IX in lateral view tapering anteriorly and withdrawn into segments VII–VIII extending slightly beyond anterior margin of segment VII, with truncated process at dorsal posterior portion ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ); in dorsal view anterodorsal margin shallowly excised mesally ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ); in ventral and dorsal views lateral margins tapering anteriorly to acute base ( Figs 1B, 1C View FIGURE 1 ). Tergum X in lateral view membranous, posterior margin blunt ( Figs. 1A View FIGURE 1 ); in dorsal view posterior margin almost straight ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Inferior appendages sclerotized, in lateral view with acute apex directed posterodorsad ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 , ia); in ventral view fused mesally, produced into pair of almost-rectangular lateral lobes ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 , ia). Subgenital process sclerotized, in lateral view robust, curving posteroventrad ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 , sg), with elongate mesal process, directed caudad, and narrow apically ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 , mp); in dorsal view with triangular process produced apicomesally ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 , sg). Bilobed processes in ventral view widely separated, digitate and each with spine-like apical seta ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 , bp). Phallus in lateral view with tubular basal half, membranous apical half, ventrally with elongate, slender, and pointed apex, with basal keel-shaped process ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 , vp); internally with long and sclerotized ejaculatory duct acute at apex ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 , ed).

Distribution: Brazil (Roraima state)

Etymology. The term “jiquitaia,” a noun used in apposition, refers to the oral word used by inhabitants of Roraima state to designate a hot food powder made of a sun dried and ground pepper.
