Recorded from Madeira by Bauchot & Saldanha in Whitehead et al. (1986: 573-574) under the name Taenioconger longissimus .

Paraconger macrops (Günther, 1870) —Blackspot conger

No specimen in MMF collection but record confirmed by underwater observation at Reis Magos by the first author. A specimen of Paraconger macrops was caught near Porto Santo Island during a fishery survey (J. Delgado, pers. comm. to PW) but was unfortunately not preserved.
