Genus Xylodrypta Lesne, 1901: 523 View in CoL
Type species: Xylodrypta bostrychoides Lesne, 1901: 523
Diagnosis. A member of the tribe Xyloperthini , characterized by the lamelliform intercoxal process of the first abdominal ventrite, and the mandibles crossed at the tips ( Lesne 1901; Fisher 1950; Liu & Schönitzer 2011). The genus Xylodrypta is distinguished from other genera of Xyloperthini by the following combination of characters: Body elongate, parallel-sided; frons weakly convex; mandibles symmetrical, sharply pointed; eyes large, strongly detached from the genae at the posterior margins; antenna with ten antennomeres, the funicle antennomeres small and together about as long as the first antennomere of the club, first and second antennomeres of club with two indistinct sensory areas near the apex; pronotum with a pair of small upward curved horns on antero-lateral angles, without a lateral carina; upper and lateral margins of elytral declivity trituberculate; infero-apical margin of elytra lacking a false epipleuron; posterior margin of fourth ventrite of female with a pair of hook-like processes; last abdominal ventrite of male with pleural pieces.
Description
Body elongate, 6‒7.5 mm long, about three times longer than wide.
Head deeply inserted in prothorax, not visible from above. Frons simple, convex. Clypeus broadly emarginate in middle of anterior margin, emargination corresponding to width of base of labrum. Both mandibles with pointed tips. Eyes large, strongly detached from genae at posterior margin. Antennae with 10 antennomeres, 3‒7 together more or less equal in length to first antennomere of antennal club; club antennomeres 1 and 2 not or scarcely transverse with 2 indistinct sensory areas near apex, and last club antennomere elongate without distinct sensory impressions.
Pronotum subtrapezoidal, slightly wider than long, widest about one-third from base, strongly narrowed anteriorly, prolonged into two upturned, uncinate teeth at anterior angles, posterior to them a row of 3‒4 strong, backwardly hooked teeth form lateral margin of the rasp; anterior slope with numerous, small upwardly directed asperities from anterior margin to summit; anterior margin between teeth evenly curved, concave; posterior angles broadly rounded, without a lateral carina; vestiture of short, inconspicuous grey hairs.
Scutellum small, shining, tongue-shaped, punctured.
Elytra with regular puncturation, becoming stronger posteriorly; upper and lateral margins of the apical declivity with three pairs of large, tuberculiform or subspiniform projections; infero-apical margin lacking a false epipleuron.
Abdomen. Intercoxal process of first abdominal ventrite lamelliform. Posterior margin of fourth ventrite of female with a pair of hook-like processes. Last visible abdominal ventrite of male with pleural pieces.
Legs subequal in length, procoxae contiguous; anterior tibiae not narrowed towards the apex, posterior tibiae without erect setae on outer margin.
