Etymology: The species name is dedicated to Tilmann Laufs who collected the spiders, used here as type specimens, in Malaysia; name in genitive case.

Diagnosis: Males of S. tilmanni spec. nov. are similar to those of S. semicirculata in having a proximally wide embolic apophysis. They can be distinguished from the latter species by 1. curved spermophore (straight in S. semicirculata ), 2. embolus with proximal part as wide as distal part (proximal part wider than distal part in S. semicirculata ) and 3. dRTA nearly as long as vRTA and vRTA convex in dorsal view (dRTA longer than vRTA and vRTA not convex in S. semicirculata ).

Females of S. tilmanni spec. nov. are similar to those of S. grandispinosa in having the epigynal pockets situat- ed very close to the posterior margin of the epigyne. They can be distinguished from the latter species by 1. anterior part of spermathecae bulging laterally (not bulging laterally in S. grandispinosa ), 2. posterior part of spermathecae not divided into two parts (divided into two parts in S. grandispinosa ) and 3. fertilization ducts short and curved (long and slightly curved in S. grandispinosa ).

Description: Male (holotype): Total length 6.70; prosoma 3.10 long, 2.90 wide, anterior width of prosoma 1.60; opisthosoma 3.60 long, 2.00 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.21; ALE 0.30; PME 0.23; PLE 0.31; AME– AME 0.14; AME–ALE 0.03; PME–PME 0.22; PME–PLE 0.24; AME–PME 0.31; ALE–PLE 0.22; clypeus AME 0.25; clypeus ALE 0.22. Leg formula: 2143. Measurements of palp and legs: palp: 4.70 (1.50, 0.70, 0.90, 1.60); I: 15.20 (4.10, 1.70, 4.30, 3.80, 1.30); II: 17.40 (4.70, 1.80, 5.10, 4.40, 1.40); III: 13.90 (4.00, 1.40, 3.90, 3.50, 1.10); IV: 14.50 (4.10, 1.40, 3.80, 3.90, 1.30). Spination: palp: 131, 101, 2101; legs: Fe I–III 323, IV 321; Pa I–IV 000; Ti I–IV 2126; Mt I–III 2024, IV 3036. Cheliceral furrow with 3 anterior and 4 posterior teeth.

Colouration in ethanol: Prosoma yellow, laterally and anteriorly brown, lateral margin brown. Sternum yellowish-white with brown dots, medially with brown spot, laterally brown. Opisthosoma brown, laterally with yellow spots, antero-laterally with two yellow longitudinal stripes, medially with four dark brown dots, posterior part with triangular-shape like yellow spot, ventrally yellowish-white with brown spots. Chelicerae light brown with brown stripes. Palps yellow; Fe proximally and distally lateral brown, Pa distally with brown band, Ti proximally and distally brown. Legs yellow; Fe medially and distally with brown band, Pa laterally brown, Ti proximally and distally with brown band, laterally light brown, Mt distally, medially and proximally with brown band.

Palp as in diagnosis. Embolic apophysis slightly longer than embolus. Embolus slender. Conductor long, arising from 1-o’clock-position with distal part bent ventrally. dRTA narrow and rather straight in retrolateral view, dorso-distad, only tip of dRTA visible in ventral view. vRTA wide, pointing distally with triangular bulge dorsally in retrolateral view, tip rounded.

Description: Female (paratype): Total length 8.10; prosoma 3.50 long, 3.50 wide, anterior width of prosoma 2.10; opisthosoma 4.40 long, 2.70 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.23; ALE 0.32; PME 0.25; PLE 0.32; AME– AME 0.16; AME–ALE 0.06; PME–PME 0.28; PME–PLE 0.32; AME–PME 0.34; ALE–PLE 0.31; clypeus AME 0.32; clypeus ALE 0.29. Leg formula: 2413. Measurements of palp and legs: palp: 5.50 (1.50, 0.90, 1.40, 1.70); I: 13.45 (3.60, 1.80, 3.65, 3.20, 1.20); II: 15.00 (4.20, 1.90, 4.20, 3.50, 1.20); III: 12.70 (3.60, 1.70, 3.40, 3.00, 1.00); IV: 13.55 (3.80, 1.50, 3.50, 3.50, 1.25). Spination: palp: 131, 101, 2121, 2014; legs: Fe I–III 323, IV 321; Pa I–IV 000; Ti I–II 1026, III–IV 2026; Mt I–II 0004, III 2005, MT IV 3036. Cheliceral furrow with 3 anterior and 4 posterior teeth.

Colouration in ethanol: Prosoma yellow, laterally and anteriorly brown, lateral margin brown. Sternum yellowish-white with brown dots, medially and laterally with brown spots. Opisthosoma ventrally brown, medially with yellow spots, lateral and posterior part with dark brown stripes, posteriorly with yellow spot, ventral part brown with dark brown dots. Chelicerae light brown with dark brown stripes. Palps yellow; Fe proximally and distally lateral part brown, Pa distally with brown band, increasing laterally, Ti distally and proximally with brown band, Mt distally reddish-brown, proximally lateral brown. Legs white with brown dots; Fe distally and medially with brown band, proximally brown, Pa laterally brown, Ti distally and proximally brown, Mt dorsally brown, Ta yellow.

Copulatory organ as in diagnosis. Epigynal field wider than long without anterior bands and slit sensilla. Epigynal pockets narrow, running from medio-posterior to medio-anterior. Lateral lobes fused, narrow. Lobal septum medially narrow, anterior part wider and rounded. Fusion bubbles situated posteriorly at epigyne. Internal duct system slightly longer than wide. Glandular appendages extending not in posterior half of internal duct system, curved. Anterior part of spermathecae heart-shaped, posterior part bulging laterally and slightly wider than anterior part. Fertilization ducts arising postero-laterally.

Variation: Male (n=1): Total length 6.60–7.50; prosoma 3.30–3.50 long, 3.00–3.20 wide, anterior width of prosoma 1.80; opisthosoma 3.30–4.00 long, 1.90–2.30 wide. Measurements leg I: total length 15.10–16.15, Fe 4.00–4.40, Pa 1.80–1.80, Ti 4.20–4.50, Mt 3.80–4.00, Ta 1.30–1.45. Spination: palp: Ti 2101; legs: Ti I&III–IV 2026; Mt III 2025.

Variation: Female (n=12): Total length 8.30–10.20; prosoma 3.60–4.50 long, 3.10–4.20 wide, anterior width of prosoma 2.00–2.50; opisthosoma 4.50–5.80 long, 2.45–3.90 wide. Measurements leg I: total length 12.95–17.40, Fe 3.50–4.90, Pa 1.65–2.20, Ti 3.60–4.80, Mt 3.10–4.10, Ta 1.10–1.50. Spination: legs: Ti I 1016, Ti II 1016, 2026, Ti III 3026; Mt I & II 1004, 1014, Mt III 2015, 2025.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
