Material examined. Taiwan: 1 ♂ (CW 4.4 mm), 1 ♀ (5.6 mm) (NCHUZOOL 14772), mangroves, Cigu River, Tainan, coll. J.-H. Lee, 10 Feb. 2003.

Diagnosis. Carapace ( Fig. 1 A) suboctogonal. Postfrontal ridges distinct, crested, separated by broad median sulcus. Lateral margins convex, largest carapace width between third anterolateral teeth. Four or five anterolateral teeth present, first tooth (external orbital tooth) largest, triangular, acute or subacute; second tooth extending as far as or slightly exceeding first tooth, rounded or bluntly triangular; third tooth clearly exceeding beyond first tooth; fourth tooth small, but clearly delineated, subacute; fifth tooth conspicuously small. G1 ( Fig. 1 D–H) with apical chitinous process long, inclined slightly. Female gonopore with oval operculum ( Fig. 1 I), directed mesially; shallow depression on sternite mesial to operculum.

Distribution. Taiwan, Pakistan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia (Bintan, Sumatra, Bali, Papua), Australia (Northern Territory), and New Caledonia.

Habitat. Mangroves, tidal flats and estuaries ( Komai & Wada 2008).

Remarks. This is the first record of the subfamily Ilyograpsinae from Taiwan.
