TYPE LOCALITY: Ireland, Dublin .
DISTRIBUTION: Europe, W. and S. of Elbe River; N. Africa; east through deserts of Iran and Pakistan to Himalayas. Introduced to the British Isles, Americas, and Australia.
COMMENT: Includes bactrianus, brevirostris, homourus, and praetextus; see Marshall and Sage, 1981, Symp. Zool. Soc. Lond., 47:19-20, who considered domesticus distinct from musculus .
