Distribution.Common species recorded from several countries. Verified data come from Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghanaand Kenya. According to the literature known also from Cameroon, Central African Republic, Guinea, Nigeria, Tanzaniaand Uganda. Recorded from Ghanafor the first time by Przybyłowicz & Kühne (2008)without any details.
Remarks.The two females examined are similar in size (forewing length 15 mm) but smaller than the female holotype(forewing length 17 mm) of Metarctia haematosphages Holland, 1893which is synonymized with M. haematicaby Przybyłowicz & Kühne (2008). Female genitalia are characterized by elongate and narrow ductus bursae which are sclerotized proximally ( Fig. 3H) (gs - S131, ISEA).
