The species bears the name of the typelocality, PonceLedge, a known fishing locality near Ponce, Puerto Rico.   Remarks. The new species,  Cumella ponceledgensis  sp. nov.resembles  C. abacoensis Petrescu, 1996from Abaco Island, Bahamas( Petrescu, 1996), in the carapace without any dorsal denticles and uropod with long peduncle with serrate margins. The new species differs from  C. abacoensisin the 1) ocular lobe with six in the new species vs. five lenses in  C. abacoensis; 2) longer pseudorostrum; 3) apical margin of pseudorostrum serrate vs. smooth; 4) pereopod 1 with one simple seta on medial margin of basis vs. two setae and one plumose on outer margin; 5) pereopod 2 with simple setae on articles vs. plumose setae on basis to merus; 6) uropodal peduncle with five vs. three setae; 7) uropodal endopod with two vs. five setae on medial margin. 1412763382 2010-10-19 MGAB, CUM Nikolaos V.
