Distribution and habitat. Amapasaurus tetradactylusis endemic to northern Amazonia(eastern portion of the Guianaregion), occurring in Brazil( Fig. 3), French Guiana( Dewynter & Surugue 2012) and Suriname( Jairam & Jairam-Doerga 2015). In Brazil, it is known from the states of Amapáand Pará. Amapasaurus tetradactylusis terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme forest, where it is found among the leaf litter ( Cunha1970; Dewynter & Surugue 2012; Jairam & Jairam-Doerga 2015). For 34 years A. tetradactyluswas only known from the two typespecimens ( Cunha1970), but recent collections in poorly studied areas have recovered new specimens ( Lima2008; Ávila-Pires et al.2010; Dewynter & Surugue 2012; Jairam & Jairam-Doerga 2015).
