Small, rarely medium-sized (3.0– 6.5 mm) bright colored flies. Frons and face broad, vibrissal angle placed at oral margin, head in profile angular; posterior border of head distinctly shortened; orb1–2+2–6, strong; postpedicel 3–5× as long as pedicel.  D i s t r i b u t i o n a n d d i v e r s i t y. 16 species distributed in Palaearctic, Orientaland Afrotropical Regions.   Key to species     1.
