Material examined: HOLOTYPE ♀(dried and mounted specimen, deposited in CEIOC) labelled “ Rhinoleucophenga angustifronsDET—Chana Malogolowkin RioV-946 \ BRASILJUSSARAL X- 934 L. TRAV. ET LOPES\ Inst. Osw. Cruz n° 8.121 \ HOLOTYPUS. Leftwing, right hindleg and terminalia were disarticulated and lost.
Diagnosis. Body yellow. Front covered with ca. 40 scattered interfrontal setulae. Frontal index 2.83. Carina nose-like and ca. 50% sulcated. One pair of prescutellar acrostichal setae. Hyaline wings. Abdominal tergites with brown stripes interrupted medially. Body length ca. 2.50 mm.
Description. Head ( Fig. 1c). Front homogeneously yellowish, covered with ca. 40 scattered interfrontal setulae; ocellar triangle yellow with brown ocelli. Carina nose-like and ca. 50% sulcated. Face and gena yellowish; antenna with flagellomore and pedicel homogeneously brownish; arista with 7 long dorsal branches and 6 long ventral branches. Palpus yellowish with ca. 15 setae on lower part. Thorax ( Fig. 9a, b). Scutum and scutellum homogeneously yellow. Ten irregular rows of acrostichal setulae. One pair of prescutellar acrostichal setae. Pleura brownish; halteres yellowish. Legs homogeneously yellow. Wings ( Fig. 1e). Hyaline, without spots. Abdomen ( Fig. 1d). Tergites II and III yellowish and tergites IV and V brownish; with brown stripes interrupted medially. Terminalia unknown. For more measures and indices see Table 1.
Distribution. Known only from the typelocality (State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Note. Rhinoleucophenga angustifronsrecorded by Roque & Tidon (2008) was analyzed and it is not a Rhinoleucophengaspecies, probably a LeucophengaMikspecimen.
