ZenirellaPiza, 1973 syn. nov.of Euceraia Hebard, 1927 FerreiraiaPiza, 1976 syn. nov.of Euceraia Hebard, 1927 Zenirella acreanaand Ferreiraia nigropunctata, each described from a male specimen from northern Brazil, not only represent a single genus, but also a single species. Habitus, coloration, including the dark spots on the tegmina, and the male genitalia, most notably the conspicuous appendages of the tenth tergite are identical. In nigropunctatathe dark markings on the hind tibia are more conspicuous, but they are present in acreanaas well. While there is little doubt that the species belongs to the genus group Plagiopleurae, it was difficult to decide whether the insufficiently diagnosed genus Zenirellashould be conserved. Piza considered the modified tenth tergite as diagnostic of Zenirella, without mentioning any other genera. He mentioned these appendages also for Ferreiraia, a genus he otherwise compared to Parableta. Such cerciform processes are actually diagnostic of Euceraia, and Piza’s specimens comply quite well with Grant’s (1964) diagnosis of that genus. So it is probably better to accommodate the species there.
