Synonymy by Reiss & Säwedal (1981) Paratanytarsus penicillatus( Goetghebuer 1928) Albu 1980: 271(Fig. 183), Brundin 1949: 851(Fig. 240), Reiss 1968: 218, Yan et al 1979. Diagnostic characters:Anal tergite with lateral teeth. Median bristles on anal tergite sitting on dark, chitinized humps or edgings. Dorsal setae of superior volsella confined to anal median part. Median volsella long, distal subulate lamellae reaching far beyond tip of inferior volsella. Inferior volsella elongated, not branched, its distal part conically tapering. The characters used in this paper are those presented by Yan et al (1979)and Reiss & Säwedal (1981).
Distribution:This species is widely distributed in Europe and Asia (e.g., China, and Tibet) It has a typical Holarctic distribution.
