However, it can be distinguished by: the posterior portion of pronotum, with a row of elliptical ocellate punctures ( Fig. 8e); the surface of the gena, with ocellate punctures on the posterior portion ( Fig. 8b); the length, 14–16 mm.   Description. Length: 14–16 mm. Body black and shiny, with purplish sheen ( Fig. 8a). Head:clypeal surface with transversal ridges, absent on central portion ( Fig. 8b). Clypeofrontal suture with a central and conical horn; and two weak knobs on the interocular portion of the head, close to the eye ( Fig. 8b). Interocular surface slightly depressed on its central portion, with dense ocellate punctures separated from each other by less than their diameter ( Fig. 8b). Pronotum:slightly convex in lateral view.Disc smooth ( Fig. 8d), with band of ocellate punctures near to anterior margin of pronotum. Posterior margin with row of elliptical punctures ( Fig. 8e). Margination of posterior edge with small and sparse ocellate punctures close to posterior fovea. Hypomera:posterolateral portion with setigerous and elongated punctures; punctures touching. Metasternum:disc with sparse punctures; slightly rugose-punctate; punctures larger and forming a row close to inner margin of mesocoxae. Lateral portions with ocellate and setigerous punctures separated from each other by approximately their diameter. Elytra:surface of interstriae slightly convex; punctures noticeable only at high magnification. Elytral striae punctate and deeply impressed. Legs:ventral surface of profemur with sparse and setigerous punctures on apical quarter. Anterior and posterior margins of profemur not sulcated. Posterior margin of meso and metafemur with longitudinal sulcus along its length; sulcus approximately one-ninth as wide as the femur; surface of sulcus with well-defined microsculpture (as in Fig. 11d). Row of setae toward the body on ventral surface of mesotibia extending the entire length of the tibia (as in Fig. 11e). Abdomen:surface of sternites with a single row of ocellate punctures; lateral portion densely punctate on anterior half. Male medial portion of sixth sternite half as long as the fifth. Pygidium:slightly wider than long. Disc smooth, ocellate punctures only near the margins. Aedeagus:parameres subtriangular, 2/3 as long as phallobase ( Fig. 8f–h). [lateral view] —parameres narrowed toward apex ( Fig. 8f). Dorsal margin of parameres slightly curved outward on apical third ( Fig. 8f). Ventral margin of parameres curved inward on apical two-thirds; on basal third almost straight ( Fig. 8f). [ventral view] —inner margins of parameres strongly curved outward ( Fig. 8g). [dorsal view] —basal portion of parameres slightly wider than apical portion ( Fig. 8h). External margin of parameres strongly expanded toward apex ( Fig. 8h). Inner margin with convergent projections on apical third ( Fig. 8h). Dorsal surface of parameres, near apex, with microtubercles noticeable only at high magnification. Endophallus:lamella copulatrix —Projection circular; superior portion curved outward; lateral portion rounded ( Fig. 10g). Secondary sexual characters:females differ from males by more acute clypeal teeth ( Fig. 8c); surface of clypeus with well-defined transversal ridges ( Fig. 8c); genal surface lacking ocellate punctures. Medial portion of sixth sternite as long as the fifth. 1572402819 1990-01-02 1990-01-06 1990-01-02 CEMT E. & P.
