East of Andes from northwestern Venezuelathrough Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peruto northern Bolivia. In Venezuela, disjunct populations south of Orinoco River, eastern slopes of Andes and Maracaibo Basin (west of Andes).   Remarks:Fouquet et al. (2007) found genetic divergence in two populations of  Lithodytesfrom Braziland Peru.
